Charon moving through the River Styx

The River Styx, part of Greek Mythology, is the border between the Underworld, which is controled by Hades, and the world of the living.

When mortals came to pass into the after life, they had to pass over this mythical river through the Charon, a sailor that the dead must give two copper coins in order to have safe passage to the Underworld. It was also named after the Goddess of the Night Styx.

In the 2010 Clash of the Titans, the River Styx is located deep in a chasm and is pure lava; it is curious that Charon was rowing across a river to Medusa's lair. It is possible the river of lava was a stream.

The River Styx is very big because it took several days to cross in the 2010 Clash of the Titans
