Spyros is a major character of Clash of the Titans. He was portrayed by Pete Postlethwaite in the 2010 remake.
Mythology[]
He is the adoptive father of Perseus. In the myth, Spyros was called Diyctus. He and his wife (whose name was never given) saved Perseus and his mother, Danae, and helped raise him on the Cyclades islands. After Perseus kills King Polydectes, with Medusa's head, Perseus crowns Diyctus king of the Cyclades islands.
Clash of the Titans (2010)[]
He is sailing and looking for fish, and finds a floating coffin in the sea. This coffin contains the infant Perseus and his deceased mother. He, his wife, and his daughter were killed when Hades sunk his fishing boat.
